1977-78

My first motor boat

The Runnö-19 came as a kit, hull and superstructure assembled together but the rest of the equipment in a box. She was 5.6 meters long and 2.3 meters wide. It took me 3 months to get her ready for sea. She then had a 70 hp Volvo Penta outboard and all the normal equipment you would expect on a boat of this kind.

She was a fast boat, 25+ knots, perfect for waterskiing. On the picture above my brother Anders is preparing for a ride after the Runnö in lake Hjälmaren 1978.

The Runnö had power enough to pull a person on one ski or even two persons, but then you had to start with two skis.

My parents had a dog named Trasslan that I grew up with. This is one of the few pictures I have of her. She also liked riding with the Runnö. During 1977 and 1978 I took the Runnö on trips in lake Hjälmaren but also on a trailer I built, down to Linköping and launched her in Göta Kanal and then went out to the Baltic. We drove her south along the Swedish coast to Figeholm were I loaded her on the trailer again. This was a big adventure, first time in the open sea.

The Runnö was lots of fun but not comfortable in rough seas. I soon started dreaming of a bigger boat with sails...
