Hello this is Gustav's page of lead melting for the keel in the boat.

If you are interested in looking at the pictures from the melting you can take a look at the links below:

April09_01.jpg Here is a picture of my brother, Martin.

April09_02.jpg On this picture the wind strikes the fire so Martin has to cover his face.

April09_03.jpg Here is a picture of me with a plier in my hand (i really dont want to put my fingers in the lead).

April09_04.jpg Here is a picture of the fire surrounding the lead.

April09_05.jpg And here is another simple picture of the fire heating the lead.

April09_06.jpg When we finally melted the lead it floated like water so we drilled some holes in the form so the lead could be easily spilled into the smaller form and cool down.

April09_07.jpg When the lead finally cooled down it got hard just like before BUT it was pure lead now.

April09_08.jpg Later in the evening we got a little bit impatient so we brought our turbo (a vacuum cleaner blowing air).

April09_09.jpg Our result was a rapid meltdown of lead.

April09_10.jpg And finally that resulted in a few lead bars. After all this was just a try out for starters so we will probably continue in this way. ;D
